Dear representatives of the Government of INDIA,
With this letter, I present to you a proposal aimed at promoting global connectedness, peace, and global consciousness.
I wish to organize an international march under the theme “One Planet, One World, One Humanity”. The core of this initiative is the realization that humanity forms a single whole, living on one planet; that the balance between the planet as ‘giver’ and humanity as ‘receiver’ is essential to the future of the world’s population. In essence, this means that the world cannot absorb more than nature can provide.
I intend to hold such a march in a different country every four years. For the first edition, I am turning to India because of its cultural diversity and its tradition of non-violence: a place where differences coexist and where a long tradition of philosophical thought and inner reflection is present. In my work schedule, I envision a route of approximately 500 kilometers, running from Hampi, past the temples in Badami, Pattadakal, and Aihole, then through the jungle of Dandeli, and ending at the ocean near Gokarna.
This journey will be the first of many that must follow before world unification in peace, while preserving the unique cultural identity of all countries and peoples, can be realized. Of the 8 billion people in the world, everyone is welcome, regardless of their country or culture, but only 1,000 people from the world’s 200 different countries can sign up: they will then briefly serve as the symbolic representatives of a humanity in balance with nature.
With this initiative, I aim to send a signal that transcends national borders and contributes to a future in which cooperation, respect, and balance with the planet take center stage. I hope for your interest in this initiative, and look forward to further explaining my proposal.
Sincerely,
Frans van As
